    .405 Winchester

Has anyone ever loaded light .410 bullets in a .405 Winchester for plinking rounds? I remember seeing some data a while back but can't seem to run it down. I think it was using Unique powder. I guess you could use Trail Boss too?

I found some data for 200, 210, and 220 jacketed, but they are not reduced. They are running between 2000-2300fps

Go to the Hodgdon website. Look at the reduced loading for H4895 ONLY. Go to the 405Win part of the site. See the 405Win MAX LOADS USING H4895 ONLY. Reduce those by 60% as per Hodgdon reduced loads using H4895 ONLY.
I do this all the time with different chamberings. Works great. Follow the Hodgdon directions exactly. --- SAWMAN

Thanks for the reminder. I have used H4895 reduced loads in the past but always forget about them. Should work good.

Between Trail Boss and H4895 I can get the velocities that I want out of most of my guns.
As per Hodgdon, you can even drop back another 10% if needed.
I tried this several times just to see,but have really never needed to do this.
My favorite is to shoot the .308" bullets out of my 308Win bolt gun, about 100-200FPS faster than my 300BLK's. It is a great deer/hog killer and doesn't beat you up. Freakin' accurate also. --- SAWMAN
